Unfortunately, back pain will affect most of us at some point in our lives. It’s probably the most common area to have some sort of pain or discomfort with and there are many ways that we can damage or injure our back – whether it’s a sudden wrong move or repeated bad posture. We often turn to the painkillers as our first port of call, however if the reason for your back pain is lifestyle-related, then the pain is likely to keep returning.

Here are 3 things for you to use as preventative measures for back pain:

Sleep correctly – The comfiest position isn’t always the correct position! We can get ourselves in to bad habits that aren’t great for the body, for example sleeping on your front with your neck twisted to one side, or using more than one pillow so your neck is bent in an unnatural position are not going to keep your spine happy.
Strengthening your core – your core muscles support your back, so if they are strong and in good condition this will reduce the chances of you suffering from back pain.
Sports Massage – works much better as a preventative rather than a cure, regular massage relaxes tight achy muscles and improves flexibility, keeping you moving smoother and easier.
